SEATTLE -
Tonight's Utah-Washington gymnastics meet will be updated while it is in progress. Scores will be updated as frequently as meet logistics allow. They will not be updated automatically. You will need to hit your reload/refresh key for updates. The meet starts at 7:00 p.m. PST. The first scores should start to appear about 20 minutes later.
For people with high speed internet connections, live video streaming of the meet is available at Live Streaming Video
Pre-Meet Notes: For some reason, they are not going to alternate performers on the first two events (vault and beam). Those are the two hardest events to keep up with anyway on live commentary and scoring, so it will probably seem very erratic the way I'll be posting them.
FINAL SCORE
1. Utah 195.625
WASHINGTON UTAHVAULT VAULT Emily Epsten 9.625 Gabriella Onodi 9.725 Natalie Gillan 9.525 Gritt Hofmann 9.825 Katie Boyko 9.650 Jessica Duke 9.850 Chelsea Bakken 9.700 Nina Kim 9.850 Kristen Omori 9.825 Kristina Baskett 9.900 Ashley Houghting 9.875 Ashley Postell 9.900 VT: 48.675; Running: 48.675 VT: 49.325; Running: 98.250 Utah vault notes: That's one of the better vaults I've ever seen Gabriella Onodi do. Her execution looked very good. Gritt Hofmann had great amplitude and exceptional form. She had one hop on her landing. Jessica Duke had just a huge vault with only a lean at the end. Nina Kim also got good amplitude. Kristina Baskett absolutely nailed her vault. Ashley Postell came up with a big stick on a vault she tried for the first time since coming to colllege. Rarely seen in college gymnastics, she did a yurchenko one half on, front pike with a half twist off.
BARS BARS Ashley Houghting 9.375 Natalie Nicoloff 9.675 Raimey Iselin 9.700 Ashley Postell 9.200 Darcee Schiller 9.550 Nina Kim 9.700 Natalie Gillan 9.525 Jessica Duke 9.800 Chelsea Bakken 9.600 Kristina Baskett 9.850 Kelly McDonald 9.850 Nicolle Ford 9.900 UB: 48.225; Running: 96.900 UB: 48.925; Running: 48.925 Utah bar notes: Natalie Nicoloff did a nice job in her first competitive bar routine since 2003. The main thing I saw was her routine stalled a little when she stood on the low bar, preparing to go to the high bar for her dismount. Ashley had a big break going to the low bar. She didn't have enough of momentum to go over it. Lya thinks she might have pushed off of the floor. Nina Kim didn't have anything major wrong. She didn't look quite as sharp as last week. Jessica Duke's routine was just outstandng and I have no idea where the two tenths deduction came from. Her skills were big, her movement good, handstands straight and she stuck her dismount. Kristina Baskett swung through a beautiful routine. She dislocated her finger prior to the meet and was questionable on bars but showed no sign at all. Great stick on her dismount. Nicolle Ford was all but flawless on the bars. She had a really small step on her landing.
BEAM BEAM Chelsea Bakken 9.575 Gabriella Onodi 9.025 Natalie Gillan 9.650 Kristen Riffanacht 9.125 Kelly Gilbert 9.150 Nina Kim 9.725 Kristen Omori 7.975 Gritt Hofmann 9.850 Ashley Houghting 9.625 Nicolle Ford 9.850 Kelly McDonald 9.850 Ashley Postell 9.875 BB: 47.850.; Running: 144.750 BB: 48.425; Running: 195.625 Utah beam notes: Gabriella Onodi appeared to be on her game until she fell on her punch front. Kristin Riffanacht opened her season with a fall on her mount. Nina Kim had a decent sized balance check in the middle of her routine but really looked clean other than that. It looked to me as though Gritt Hofmann really battled with this routine to stay precise and clean and she succeeded. Nicolle Ford skipped her second layout, most likely because of thetwo falls to start the set, but looked like she could have done the second layout. Had a balance check on her punch front. Ashley Postell looked so smooth. All I saw in the entire routine was she bent a little low on her landing, but she didn't take any steps or windmill her arms. I liked this way more than a 9.875.
FLOOR FLOOR Tori Quandt 9.500 Gabriella Onodi 9.700 Ashley Houghting 9.650 Jessica Duke 9.850 Kelly Gilbert 9.700 Nina Kim 8.675 Natalie Gillan 9.550 Ashley Postell 9.825 Chelsea Bakken 9.750 Kristina Baskett 9.775 Kristen Omori 9.825 Gritt Hofmann 9.800 changed FX: 48.575; Running: 193.325 FX: 48.95; Running: 147.20 Utah floor notes: Gabriella Onodi cruised through her routine. It appears to me that she has done some real work in the preseason on her execution. Jessica Duke's piked double back was exceptional! Great height, form and stick. The rest of her routine followed suit. Nina Kim stumbled on her first pass, then fell on her piked double back on her second pass and at the end of her routine. Welcome back to the floor lineup says Ashley Postell! After sitting out last week due to her elbow injury, Postell looked well-prepared, confident and loose in her first floor rotuine of the season. One judge initially gave her a 9.6, but the higher ranked judge got it upped on a conference. Kristina Baskett was headed for a blowout score before a stumble at the end. She opened with a full in and did a big piked double back on the third pass. Her dance was great. The finish killed a big score. Gritt Hofmann's routine is nearly as popular with the road fans as the home crowd. The main deduction I saw was she finished one pass almost dangerously low in my opinion, although she landed it OK. .
