FINAL TEAM TOTALS
1. Utah 196.225
2. BYU 194.700
BYU UTAH VAULT VAULT Meghan Donahue 9.650 Kristen Riffanacht 9.475 Megan Pessoa 9.750 Stephanie Lim 9.800 Kirsten Pauga 9.825 Melissa Vituj 9.925 Jaime Mabray 9.850 Nicolle Ford 9.925 Marie-Helene Claveau 9.750 Rachel Tidd 9.925 Trisha Ashton 8.975 Annabeth Eberle 9.975 VT: 48.825; Running: 48.825 VT: 49.55; Running: 97.500 Utah vault notes: Kristen Riffanacht seemed to have trouble getting momentum going, perhaps because it is freezing in this building. She was sloppy on the entry and then hit her head against the end of the vault on her landing. Stephanie Lim really got off the horse and had great amplitude. She stepped out of her landing slightly in a career best. Melissa Vituj had one of the best vaults I've seen her do. Honestly, I didn't see a single deduction. Nicolle Ford made sure everyone saw her stick on the landing in a great vault. Rachel Tidd threw a huge vault and absolutely nailed her landing. Annabeth Eberle barely missed getting a 10.0 for the second time this season. It looked perfect from this chair but the second judge found a .05 deduction.
BARS BARS Lisa Willis 9.100 Dominique D'Oliveira 9.125 Jaime Mabray 9.775 Stephanie Lim 9.125 Candace Bauer 9.125 Melissa Vituj 9.875 Kacie Capra 9.825 Rachel Tidd 9.225 Kari Lords 9.900 Annabeth Eberle 9.875 Brogan Jacobsen 9.875 Nicolle Ford 9.850 UB: 48.500; Running: 97.500 UB: 47.950; Running: 47.950 Utah bar notes Dominique D'Oliveira couldn't complete her giant full early in the routine and fell off the top bar. Stephanie Lim had a nice routine going before falling off when she dropped back onto the low bar. Melissa Vituj turned a nice routine with a solid stick on her landing. She was just a little short on two handstands. Rachel Tidd was way too far out to catch the bar on her Jaeger. Annabeth Eberle looked smooth throughout her routine. She had a very small hop on the dismount. Nicolle Ford did a nice job covering for a few flaws in her routine. I think she added something new this week.
BEAM BEAM Kandis Kelly 8.550 Natalie Nicoloff 9.850 Kirsten Pauga 9.350 Gabriella Onodi 9.850 Jaime Mabray 9.400 Rachel Tidd 9.850 Trisha Ashton 9.875 Nicolle Ford 9.925 Marie-Helene Claveau 9.875 Annabeth Eberle 9.950 Kari Lords 9.425 Melissa Vituj 9.875 BB: 47.925; Running: 145.250 BB: 49.500; Running: 196.225 Utah beam notes I thought Natalie Nicoloff made a good decision on her series. She spent a lot of time thinking before it and got herself ready for the rest of the routine, which was very well executed. OK, Gabriella Onodi had an incredible counting debut. You can't believe how much cool stuff she did. I'm wondering if she didn't miss a connection coming off her tuck front, because this was really a beauty. Rachel Tidd worked hard at this one. Her leaps and tucked front were right on target. Again, I felt like she wanted to put in a little jump that would have counted toward a connection. Too bad for you that I'm not a gymnastics expert! Nicolle Ford did one of the best beam routines I have seen until a little trouble on the landing. She absolutely nailed her flick, lay, lay series and I don't think I've ever seen a tuck front landed that well. I think if she'd hit the dismount clean she might have gotten a 10.0. Annabeth Eberle basically beat the beam into submission. She was totally aggressive and confident after just a slight bobble on her mount. I did not see a single deduction after the mount--it was that good. Most of the final routine was vintage Melissa Vituj. She had a balance check upon landing split jump full, but was steady as ever on the rest.
FLOOR FLOOR Lisa Willis 9.850 Kristen Riffanacht 9.825 Trisha Ashton 9.850 Stephanie Lim 9.800 Jaime Mabray 9.900 Rachel Tidd 9.850 Brogan Jacobsen 9.925 Nicolle Ford 9.875 Marie-Helene Claveau 9.925 Annabeth Eberle 9.925 Kari Lords 9.775 Melissa Vituj 9.800 FX: 49.450; Running: 194.700 FX: 49.275; Running: 146.775 Utah floor notes Kristen Riffanacht continued her role as a good lead-off scorer. Her tumbling looked particularly strong. Stephanie Lim made a pitch for a full-time spot with her first floor of the year. Competing in place of injured Gritt Hofmann (hip, believed to not be serious), Steph had great tumbling, including a really nice full-in on her first pass. Rachel Tidd returned to the floor lineup with a bang. She missed last week with sore shins. Megan told me that her last pass was her best this year--something she has been working on in the gym. She also had great leaps. Nicolle Ford did a great job throughout. Her tumbling, dance, leaps and turns were all great. Megan confirmed what I was going to say about Annabeth Eberle's routine--it was her best. She was virtually flawless. Also, I think she should get extra points for her muscles. Regardless, I thought that it was good for at least a 9.95. Melissa Vituj had a really nice routine except for a step out of bounds on her first pass. She used her James Bond routine.
