ARIZONA STATE UTAHVAULT VAULT April Boone 9.850 Gabriella Onodi 9.700 Nicole Harris 9.750 Nina Kim 9.825 Lauren Powell 9.825 Jessica Duke 9.775 Ashley Kelly 9.875 Gritt Hofmann 9.900 Cassandra Jusino 9.250 Kristina Baskett 9.925 Tia Orlando 9.775 Ashley Postell 9.875 VT: 49.075; Running: 49.075 VT: 49.300; Running: 98.525 Utah vault notes: Gabriella Onodi looked like she had plenty of pop on that vault despite the fact she is sick and has withdrawn from the beam lineup. She did have a hop on her landing. Nina Kim had plenty of air. All I saw was that she made a bad face on her landing and had a little hop. Jessica Duke was clean. Maybe not as much amplitude as usual, but solid. That's by far the best vault I've seen Gritt Hofmann do. Her execution was awesome and she totally stuck it. See Gritt's comments for how Kristina Baskett did. Those two were just amazingly on. The main thing I can think of that Ashley Postell might have been docked for was she maybe leaned a little to the left on her landing. I'm wondering if she maybe came off the vault night quite square, but that's just speculation.
BARS BARS Cassandra Jusino 9.775 Katie Kivisto 9.725 April Boone 9.725 Nina Kim 9.750 Tia Orlando 9.825 Jessica Duke 9.825 Lauren Powell 9.775 Ashley Postell 9.900 Nicolle Harris 9.875 Kristina Baskett 9.850 Ashley Kelly 9.950 Nicolle Ford 9.900 UB: 49.200; Running: 98.275 UB: 49.225; Running: 49.225 Utah bar notes: They didn't announce when the routines were starting so I missed Katie Kivisto's. The meet is moving so fast the commentary might be a bit sketchy in the first half. Nina Kim was steady with nothing major. One handstand could have been better. Nice movement on the bars by Jessica Duke and a good landing. Ashley Postell looked pretty much error free except a little dip with her knees on her landing. On the bars, she was exquisite. Kristina Baskett just has great lines. Her routine was right on except for a hop on her dismount. Nicolle Ford is on fire on bars this year. She would have pushed for an even higher score except she maybe didn't hold her landing quite long enough before taking a quarter of a step forward.
BEAM BEAM Lauren Powell 9.575 Kristen Riffanacht 9.675 Ashlee Hinkle 9.725 Kristina Baskett 9.675 Tia Orlando 9.675 Nina Kim 9.825 April Boone 9.800 Gritt Hofmann 9.850 Nicole Harris 9.850 Nicolle Ford 9.875 Ashley Kelly 9.900 Ashley Postell 9.925 BB: 49.000; Running: 147.275 BB: 49.150; Running: 196.175 Utah beam notes: Kristen Riffanacht might have been deducted for her combinations. That's all I can figure because it looked like a pretty solid routine to me. Kristina Baskett tried to fall a couple of times but did a heroic job staying on. She is so graceful that she still managed to look good. It's pretty much impossible to see the scores here because they spin them so fast. I did manage to Nina's score, which didn't reflect what I saw. She really had a great routine and I saw basically no obvious flaws. Another beautiful beam routine by Gritt Hofmann, although she did step out of her landing. If Nicolle Ford hadn't had to dismount, I think she would have gotten a 10.0. She had some funky little issue on her landing and took a step. Ashley Postell's routine was incredible. I'm not smart enough to know what her deduction was.
FLOOR FLOOR Ashley Toner 9.825 Kristen Riffanacht 9.800 Nicole Harris 9.875 Gabriella Onodi 9.750 April Boone 9.925 Jessica Duke 9.775 Tia Orlando 8.700 Kristina Baskett 9.450 Ashley Kelly 9.300 Ashley Postell 9.200 Cassandra Jusino 9.900 Gritt Hofmann 9.725 FX:48.825; Running: 196.100 FX: 48.500; Running: 147.025 Utah floor notes: Kristen Riffanacht had a nice routine in place of Nicolle Ford, who is sitting out of vault and floor with a sore wrist. The only thing I saw was I thought she was maybe a little low on her second pass. Gabriella Onodi did comepte but looked a little fatigued. Other than that, she seemed pretty clean other than it looked like she slipped a little on her second pass. Jessica Duke seemed to gain energy and momentum as her routine went on. She had a little bit of trouble on her first pass when she seemed to almost hyperextend her knee while landing her piked double back. Kristina Baskett underrotated her full in and fell on her (sore) hand. Too bad because the rest of her routine was a beauty. Ashley Postell somehow kept from falling at the end of one pass, only to fall to her knees on her ending triple twist. Gritty Hofmann was all over the place for the first half of her routine, stepping out of bounds on her full in. She got better as the routine progressed and finished strong.
