2. Michigan 196.100

MICHIGAN UTAH

VAULT VAULT Lauren Mirkovich 9.675 Jessica Duke 9.775 Carol McNamara 9.725 Nina Kim 9.850 Lindsey Bruck 9.700 Nicole Ford 9.800 Jenny Deiley 9.775 Gritt Hofmann 9.800 Katie Lieberman 9.650 Kristina Baskett 9.825 Tatjana Thuener-Rego 9.775 Ashley Postell 9.875 VT: 48.650; Running: 48.650 VT: 49.150; Running: 98.500 Utah vault notes: I'm not sure where the big deduction came on Jessica Duke's vault. She hit it, little kink on landing, but nothing big. Sorry for the delay but vault moves so fast. The judging on this was really, really tight. Only Gritt Hofmann even had a hop. Nina Kim looked great and Nicolle Ford had what I thought was an absolutely stunning vault. Kristina Baskett totally nailed her vault and landing, as did Ashley Postell. I honestly thought this was a great vault set.

BARS BARS Nellie Kippley 9.800 Katie Kivisto 9.850 Tatjana Thuener-Rego 9.825 Nina Kim 9.875 Lindsday Bruck 9.900 Jessica Duke 9.900 Jenny Deiley 9.925 Ashley Postell 9.850 Lauren Mirkovich 9.925 Kristina Baskett 9.875 Katie Lieberman 9.850 Nicolle Ford 9.850 UB: 49.425; Running: 98.075 UB: 49.350; Running: 49.350 Utah bar notes: Katie Kivisto did a nice job. Her knees snapped back a little on her landing, causing a very tiny hop. Nina Kim had a good routine after a not-so good three-minute touch. I'm glad this was the one that counted. Hop on dismount. Jessica Duke just rocked. Beautiful handstands, powerful routine, stuck landing. Ashley Postell was great on the bars and upgraded her dismount pretty successfully in that she completed it and didn't fall. However, she did step out of it and lean a bit to the right. Kristina Baskett was another one who really looked smooth on the bars. No one except Jessica, though, has really suck her landing. Nicolle Ford had a bit of a break on the high bar. She did not totally stick her landing but looked really good on her big release moves.

BEAM BEAM Carol McNamara 9.800 Gabriella Onodi 9.850 Jenny Deiley 9.825 Kristen Riffanacht 9.800 Nellie Kippley 9.850 Nina Kim 9.350 Tatjana Thuener-Rego 9.850 Gritt Hofmann 9.300 Becca Clauson 9.750 Nicolle Ford 9.875 Lindsey Bruck 9.650 Ashley Postell 9.900 BB: 49.050; Running: 147.125 BB: 48.775; Running: 196.400 Utah beam notes: That may be the best beam routine I've ever seen from Gabriella Onodi. She never bobbled, was really smooth with all of her connections. Kristen Riffanacht had a little tilt coming off one move, but that was it. Again, very clean. Nina Kim fell on her mount, her first fall on the beam this year. She finished strong but probably missed a connection when she fell. Gritt Hofmann also fell for the first time this year on the beam. It was on her series. Nicolle Ford and Ashley Postell had outstanding routines. Both were solid on everything and looked totally confident and in control.

FLOOR FLOOR Nellie Kippley 9.750 Kristen Riffanacht 9.775 Carol McNamara 9.750 Gabriella Onodi 9.775 Lindsey Bruck 9.775 Nicolle Ford 9.850 Jenny Deiley 9.850 Kristina Baskett 9.850 Tatjana Thuener-Rego 9.300 Ashley Postell 8.975 Becca Clauson 9.850 Gritt Hofmann 9.875 FX: 48.925; Running: 196.100 FX: 49.125; Running: 147.625 Utah floor notes: Kristen Riffanacht got dinged for a low second pass. The rest of the routine looked pretty sharp. Gabi also had a deduction on her second pass. She did a nice piked double back but her knees snapped back causing her to lean back when she landed. Now I'm not sure where the deductions came on Nicolle Ford. I thought she was right on. Not that 9.85 is a bad score but I didn't see much wrong. Kristina Baskett's fumbling was good but she skidded on the mat a couple of times on dance/leaps. Ashley Postell had a big double Arabian. too big for her to stay in bounds. Then, she fell to her hands on her closing triple twist. Gritty Hofmann's routine was just outstanding. She was right on with her tumbling and really looked inspired and clean. That's what I saw. Word from special guest and Detroit Ute Missy Townsend Graves on Gritty's routine: I guess I don't know gymnastics anymore because I thought that was a 10!
