2. ASU 196.500
3. AFA 190.450
Note: Air Force's scores are below ASU and Utah's.
ARIZONA STATE UTAH VAULT VAULT Donna Chance 9.675 Kristen Riffanacht 9.825 Carla DeMartini 9.825 Veronique Leclerc 9.750 April Boone 9.675 Stephanie Lim 9.825 Ashley Kelly 9.875 Nicolle Ford 9.900 Maggie Germaine 9.175 Melissa Vituj 9.925 Cassandra Jusino 9.800 Rachel Tidd 9.875 VT: 48.850; Running: 48.850 VT: 49.350; Running: 196.850 Utah vault notes: This was just a phenomenal vault set, even if it received only a 49.35. Nicolle Ford and Melissa Vituj had incredibly big vaults and totally stuck their landings. Rachel Tidd's vault flew practically out of the gym it was so big. She had a little step on her landing, but the vault was huge. Kristen Riffanacht started things off with a nice vault, small step on landing. Veronique was good in flight but came down a little low on her landing. I missed Stephanie Lim's vault. Sorry.
BARS BARS Kari Muth 9.850 Dominique D'Oliveira 9.825 Cassandra Jusino 9.900 Stephanie Lim 9.775 April Boone 9.725 Melissa Vituj 9.875 Maggie Germaine 9.800 Veronique Leclerc 9.875 Ashley Kelly 9.925 Rachel Tidd 9.925 Carla DeMartini 9.875 Nicolle Ford 9.900 UB: 49.350; Running: 98.200 UB: 49.400; Running: 49.400 Utah bar notes Dominique D'Oliveira had a nice routine with a great dismount. Stephanie Lim was held up for a long time before she was flagged to start. She had a little hitch getting up to the top bar but the rest of her routine was nice. Melissa Vituj had a great routine. Her handstands were the best I've seen this year and her triple flyaway dismount was absolutely perfect. There is something going on with the judges. There are just huge delays between each routine. Veronique Lecler had to wait forever, but it didn't faze her. She swung the bars very well. Little lean on her dismount. Rachel Tidd deserved her career-tying score and then some. She handled the entire routine well and really nailed her dismount. Nicolle Ford is playing with pain today but didn't let it show. She has a cold, an ear infection and didn't train this week due to a bad back. She had a balance check on her landing but otherwise looked pretty healthy!
BEAM BEAM Kari Muth 9.800 Natalie Nicoloff 9.775 Amber Gorgianni 9.675 Rachel Tidd 9.275 Cassandra Jusino 9.800 Kristen Riffanacht 9.800 Jada Cox 9.825 Gabriella Onodi 9.275 Maggie Germaine 9.725 Nicolle Ford 9.850 Ashley Kelly 9.975 Melissa Vituj 9.850 BB: 49.125; Running: 147.325 BB: 48.550; Running: 97.950 Utah beam notes Natalie Nicoloff's mount was a little shaky and I think it caused her to be a little tentative. However, she hit her series cleanly and had just some minor bobbles. Rachel Tidd fell on her layout and had another fairly large break. Great job by Kristen Riffanacht on her first career beam routine. She looked rock steady throughout. Gabriella Onodi hopped on and fell off. Too bad because the rest of her routine was really nice. Other than a half step on her landing, Nicolle Ford turned in a beauty. She took out the second layout on her flight series. Melissa Vituj looked better than her score indicates. She dismounted right as another really weird Air Force floor music medley switched from Dream On to Smoke On The Water. I am not making this up.
FLOOR FLOOR Lauren Powell 9.900 Kristen Riffanacht 9.875 Jada Cox 9.900 Veronique Leclerc 9.875 April Boone 9.125 Rachel Tidd 9.925 Ashley Kelly 9.975 Stephanie Lim 9.875 Cassandra Jusino 9.400 Nicolle Ford 9.875 Maggie Germaine 10.0 Melissa Vituj 10.0! FX: 49.175; Running: 196.500 FX: 49.550; Running: 147.500 Utah floor notes Riffy had a really nice routine, although I thought the music seemed a little slow. She ended very strong. Competing her first floor routine of the year, Veronique Leclerc really showed off her new routine. It is super cute. Rachel Tidd had some real pop tonight with great amplitude on her tumbling. She had a just a tiny little hitch on her spin after one leap. That's all. I would have scored Stephanie Lim at least a 9.90, but probably better. I don't know what mistake I didn't catch. She nailed her full-in and all of her tumbling. Considering Nicolle Ford can barely breathe with this cold, I'm not sure how she got through her floor routine, but she did a nice job. She could have been a bit cleaner on her landing off her pike double back, but it was nothing major at all. Melissa Vituj FINALLY gets her perfect score on floor. It was a beauty.
