VAULT VAULT Kacie Capra 9.550 Jessica Duke 9.375 Alethea Boon 9.775 Gritt Hofmann 9.800 Brittany Fischer 9.700 Nina Kim 9.925 Sierra Jacobs 9.850 Nicole Ford 9.925 Hayley Jensen 9.800 Kristina Baskett 9.975 Dayna Smart 9.875 Ashley Postell 9.850 VT:49.000; Running: 49.000 VT: 49.475; Running: 98.725 Utah vault notes: Jessica Duke basically did a timer. It was only a start value of 9.60. I think she is trying to hard in her "homecoming." Gritt Hofmann's vault had great distance and execution. She had a jump on her landing. From my angle, I couldn't see a deduction on Nina Kim's vault. She just nailed it. Honestly, I know I'm biased, but I thought Queenie would get a 10.0. The only thing I saw was that she looked like she's going to bail on her run. But once she hit the horse, wow!! Finally, one judge agreed with me. Kristina Baskett got a 10.0 from one judge. FYI watchers, all of these judges are from out of state. There is not one from Utah. In the air, Ashley Postell was going for a 10.0 of her own. She had huge amplitude but couldn't quite land it with a stick.

BARS BARS Lisa Willis 9.625 Katie Kivisto 9.700 Hayley Jensen 9.600 Jessica Duke 9.200 Cassie Myers 9.675 Nina Kim 9.850 Kylee Draper 9.050 Ashley Postell 9.875 Kacie Capra 8.850 Kristina Baskett 9.950 Jenny H.-Matthews 9.675 Nicolle Ford 9.875 UB: 47.625; Running: 96.625 UB: 49.250; Running: 49.250 Utah bar notes: Katie Kivisto really did a nice job saving this routine and making me think I almost imagined a break. She came really close to the high bar on a release move, but swung up nicely, to a handstand and smoked from there. Jessica Duke had a real beauty going until she fell on her landing. She was outstanding up on the bars, doing a couple of really nice hop fulls. Nina Kim had just a little step on her dismount but everything else looked great. Ashley Postell was fantastic on the bars. Her stuff was big and that thing where she flies from the top to the bottom bar is the best of anyone I have ever seen. I don't know if it's worth anything, but it sure looks cool. She had a little stumble on her landing. Kristina Baskett had no deductions to the untrained eye. Her routine was picture perfect from start to finish. The only thing I saw at all wrong with Nicolle Ford's routine was that maybe ... maybe ... she paused too long standing on the bottom bar before preparing to go up and start swinging for her dismount. I really thought she'd score like Kristina.

BEAM BEAM Kacie Capra 9.725 Kristen Riffanacht 9.725 Lisa Willis 9.375 Gabriella Onodi 9.300 Kylee Draper 9.775 Nina Kim 9.800 Alethea Boon 9.850 Gritt Hofmann 9.400 Kandis Kelly 9.825 Nicolle Ford 9.925 Dayna Smart 9.900 Ashley Postell 9.975 BB:49.075; Running: 145.700 BB: 48.825; Running: 195.825 Utah beam notes: What I saw of Kristen Riffanacht's routine looked very clean. Unfortunately, my computer somehow got unplugged and was running on battery so I was messing with that and missed the last half. Gabriella Onodi had a great start but fell the second time down the beam. I still think she looks gassed from her three-week sickness. Nina Kim did a nice job on her first try at this bouncy beam. She did have two balance checks. Gritt Hofmann fell on her series, which was too bad since the rest of her routine was really nice. She isn't called the Queen for nothing. When Nicolle Ford gets her attitude going, she is just about unstoppable. What a great routine! There's a good reason one of the judges gave Ashley Postell a 10.0 and that's because this was really an amazing routine.

FLOOR FLOOR Kylee Draper 9.675 Gabriella Onodi 9.175 Lisa Willis 9.575 Nina Kim 9.775 Alethea Boon 9.700 Kristina Baskett 9.775 Sierra Jacobs 9.600 Nicolle Ford 9.800 Dayna Smart 9.750 Ashley Postell 9.750 Kacie Capra 9.825 Gritt Hofmann 9.175 FX:48.550; Running: 194.250 FX: 48.275; Running: 147.000 Utah floor notes: Gabi Onodi didn't look like she had enough steam to do a pike double back on her second pass, but she not only did, she over-rotated it and landed on her hands. Nina Kim must not have some stuff the judges liked because she really executed her routine really well. I always thought she ended with a pike double back, though, and she didn't this time. Maybe that was it. The biggest deductions I'm guessing on Kristina Baskett's routine were a couple of funky ankle things. Her ankle looked like it kind of caved on her full-in, but she recovered nicely. Then one of her ankles kind of skittered on the mat on her final triple twist. Nicolle Ford's routine was extremely clean. She has been working on adding a second pike double back at the end of her routine, but must have decided not to do it tonight. Apparently Ashley Postell was narrowly out of bounds on her double Arabian. Too bad because she hit all of her big stuff and looked really really good. Gritt Hofmann went back to her old music, which is great, but she fell on her full-in. She was so low I'm kind of surprised she even turned it all the way. She also stepped out of bounds.
