BYU UTAH

VT: 49.450; Running: 49.450 VT: 49.600; Running: 98.975
Utah vault notes:
Stephanie Lim had big air, straight legs, etc. She did have a step
on her landing.
Nicolle Queenie Ford really nailed that vault, which amazes me
because her approach is so slow.
Jessica got way back on the mat with great amplitude but
stepped out of her landing.
Ashley Postell totally reminds me of Missy Marlowe -- big power,
incredible form, great competitor. This vault was great.
In my opinion, Rachel Tidd's vault was even better than Ashley's.
That's one of the two best vaults by any team I've seen all year.
Annabeth Eberle didn't disappoint from No. 6. Her vault was
very similar to Ashley's--stuck it with just a little one
armed wave. Not enough to be a balance check, more like a "hi!"

BARS BARS
Marie-Helene Claveau 9.600 Katie Kivisto 9.800
Candace Bauer 9.700 Jessica Duke 9.825
Cassie Myers 8.500 Annabeth Eberle 9.825
Genevieve Claveau 9.825 Ashley Postell 9.875
Kacie Capra 9.825 Nicolle Ford 9.925
Jaime Mabray 9.775 Rachel Tidd 9.925
UB: 48.725; Running: 98.175 UB: 49.375; Running: 49.375
Utah bar notes:
Katie Kivisto had one of her best bar routines yet.
Handstands were all good, release move right on,
stuck landing.
Jessica Duke had a really nice hop full and generally a nice
routine. Her back bent a little on one of her swings.
Annabeth Eberle's Tkatchev gets higher every week. I'm going
to start keeping hang time. I think her deductions came
on two handstands that weren't completely upright (though
close).
Ashley Postell's routine was just plain phenomenal. The
general reaction on press row was shock at the one 9.85.
This was one of the best bar routines I've seen all year.
Nicolle Ford just flew through her routine. She was really moving
across the bars well. Nice routine.
Rachel Tidd was, Rachel Tidd. Nice movement, great handstands,
really emphatic stick on her dismount.
In my opinion, this was our best bar set of the year. Everyone
looked clean and sharp and hit their dismounts, including both exhibitions
(Kristen Riffanacht and Dominique D'Oliveira).

BEAM BEAM
Kacie Capra 9.750 Gabriella Onodi 9.850
Candace Bauer 9.525 Kristen Riffanacht 9.300
Kandis Kelly 9.875 Rachel Tidd 9.900
Jaime Mabray 9.900 Nicolle Ford 9.925
Marie-Helene Claveau 9.925 Annabeth Eberle 9.675
Dayna Smart 9.950 Ashley Postell 9.975
BB: 49.400; Running: 147.575 BB: 49.325; Running: 197.450
Utah beam notes:
Gabriella Onodi got through all of her flight stuff
easily. She had just one little deduction that I saw when
her foot came down crooked on a leap and she had to do
a little balance check.
Kristen Riffanacht seemed fine until her flight series.
She smashed her foot very hard on the beam and fell onto
it.
Rachel Tidd's routine was a beauty. There wasn't a deduction
to be seen on the beam. On her landing, she didn't step,
but she did do a little propeller action with her arms.
To my untrained eye, I did not see any deductions
in Nicolle Ford's routine. This is probably why I'm not
asked to judge, but trust me, this was a great routine.
Annabeth Eberle showed some major mental toughness on this
routine, when she could have fallen twice. She landed
her front somersault mount on one foot and then almost
pitched off on her flight series. Nice save all in all.
I take it back--Ashley Postell is perfect. At least I think
so. She showed no effects from her fall on floor in this
beautiful beam routine.

FLOOR FLOOR
Alethea Boon 9.775 Kristen Riffanacht 9.850
Kirsten Pauga 9.775 Rachel Tidd 9.800 score was lowered
Genevieve Claveau 9.725 Nicolle Ford 9.725
Kacie Capra 9.850 Gritt Hofmann 9.825
Marie-Helene Claveau 9.950 Annabeth Eberle 9.950
Jaime Mabray 9.90 Ashley Postell 9.375
FX: 49.250; Running: 196.825 FX: 49.150; Running: 148.125
Utah floor notes:
Kristen Riffanacht was right on track all the way through
this one. Her tumbling was outstanding. She finished strong
with her second double back.
I am flabbergasted with what Rachel Tidd can do with virtually
no training. She showed no sign of her three-week illness
in her dance or tumbling, although I could see she was
sucking air before her last pass.
Queenie Ford had a great routine going until her last
tumbling pass, when she looked like she might land on
her seat. She saved it though, but had to take a step
back. Too bad because she really had it going.
Gritty Hofmann didn't miss a beat moving to No. 4 in the
lineup. Her full-in was dead on. All I saw was a small
step out of her double back on the final tumbling pass.
The 9.75 by one judge is an enigma to me.
Ashley Postell isn't perfect after all. She fell forward
on her final tumbling pass--the double back upgrade
she put in a week or so ago. She hit 43 straight routines
before that fall.
